Well I'd say that's a much more civilised way to deal with miscreants of either gender than bringing what's between their legs into it.

Yes, a fitting treatment for criminals and slaves.
That's why we have this discussion first, so there is no need to argue about it when the time comes to pass sentence.
And don't talk like you are so innocent - you would not be facing such punishment were it not for your own sins. Perhaps greed or wrath or sloth, but given your last comment, quite likely lust.

Yes Sir. But it seems soooo unfair. But may I respectfully refer you to John, chapter 8 verse 7. The fact that you are a member of this very site suggests that you are not unfamiliar with many of the sins.

What slander! Male sinners receive just the same treatment - if anything, more often! It's just that for some reason fewer artists enjoy draawing such scenes...

The evidence does suggest that women are more likely to suffer, and more. I imagine that gentlemen will be sentenced, flogged and despatched pretty quickly.
Whereas us ladies may be offered tne hospitality of the prison for a few days so the guards can get to ‘know’ us better. Before being brought out, with maybe a skimpy loincloth to cover what remains of our modesty.....
I'll have you know our gaols are crowded with far more male ruffians than female ones. Perhaps that is why artists find the latter more interesting than common louts and thugs.
And if women perhpas receive proportionately more lashings, that is down to the mercy of the court upon the frailer sex, for often a man would face a harsher sentence.
