Sorry, I posted this question in other thread but none answered me....

One question: is SPANKING the same as WHIPPING?

As far as I'm concerned, spanking is when you hit in the ass and whipping can be anywhere. So, would spanking be the same as ass whipping? I do not think so. There are some differences in terms of the instrument used and in terms of hardness. For spanking, light instruments such as rules, belts, paddles, hairbrushes, crops, canes, rods are used ... on the contrary, whipping uses the whip, which can be of various types (bullwhip). Finally, a whipping is always harder than a spanking that sometimes occurs for pleasure.
I don't know if you agree with me...
What's about these pictures, are they whipping or spanking?

Hmm... i'd say they both fall under the general category of "beating". It's always a spanking with one's bare hand, and always a whipping with a whip (except when it's a flogging or a scourging) - other instruments are more variable.

As for those two pics, I'd rate the first one as a "paddling" and the second as "having her ass whipped bloody".

I believe that on our forum most of the members are native English speakers, some with perhaps linguistic knowledge who can provide a detailed answer.
I am not an English speaker and my English is not so good, but I understand these terms in much the same way as you. Definitely, "spanking" means a lighter punishment than "whipping". Also, as you know, "spanking" is often used as a general term for any corporal punishment, including "whipping".

To be honest, I don't generally think of "spanking" adults at all - but I've learned through the Internet that it's part of many kinky relationships.

That said (and this is a general suggestion to people posting pictures), now that the "slowdown" has passed, it is preferable again to post images as thumbnails, rather than as links to external sites, where possible. Many external posting sites may expose members to malware, which we would like to avoid. Thumbnails also allow members to view images in the normal "slideshow" format, rather than having to click through other sites to view pictures. Thanks.

I mean that on many websites, especially for classification of erotic stories, "spanking" formally used as a general category. Of course, there is no "spanking" in this thread, only "whipping".

I always think of spanking as a mild punishment with the hand or perhaps a wooden spoon or hairbrush. I'd call being beaten with a cane or birch more than a spanking - I'd call it a caning or birching. And a whipping to me must involve some kind of whip or at least ropes knotted to form a whip.

But that's just my personal opinion.
