The Stile

He turned, with his foot on the stile,

She waved back to him with great pride,
As he went off to fight in the war,

He’d soon be back home, she was sure.

From time to time o’er that stile,
Came the post, with mail from abroad.

There was love in every word.

The letters then suddenly ceased
A telegram came in their stead,
She read it, and said, “Well at least,
He’s only gone missing, not dead.”

She watched that old stile through her tears,

It was released on 5 August 1966 in the United Kingdom and on 8 August 1966 in the United States. The album was produced by George Martin and features many tracks with an electric guitar-rock sound that contrasts with their previous LP, the folk rock-inspired Rubber Soul (1965).

In the UK, Revolver's 14 tracks were released to radio stations throughout July 1966, "building anticipation for what would clearly be a radical new phase in the group's recording career".[2] The album spent 34 weeks on the UK Albums Chart, earning the number one spot on 13 August 1966.[3] It also reached number one on the Billboard Top LPs, where it stayed for six weeks.

Revolver was ranked first in the Hard-cover book All-Time Top 1000 Albums and third in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[4] A remastered CD of the album was released on 9 September 2009. This was Revolver's first remastering since its 1987 digital compact disc release. In 2013, after the British Phonographic Industry changed their sales award rules, the album was declared as having gone platinum.[5]

Robin Williams Found Dead In Marin County Home: Suicide Suspected
Just hours ago, my local paper reported that Robin Williams is dead, found in his home in Tiburon, California, just miles from my home. Here in Marin County, where I live, reside many famous people, musicians and actors most notable among them. But none is as beloved a native son as Robin Williams.

The notification from the Marin County Sheriff Coroner’s division describes Williams’ death by asphyxiation as suspected suicide.

Williams was found dead at noon today after a 9-1-1 call was placed from the home at 11:55 a.m. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the Tiburon Fire Department and the Southern Marin Fire Protection District all sent emergency personnel to the scene, arriving almost immediately at 12:00 pm. Williams lived in the home, on the Tiburon peninsula with his wife, Susan Schneider, but it isn’t clear if she was present in the home the night he died.

Williams had wed Schneider, a graphic designer, in the nearby Napa Valley on October 23, 2011. ”I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings,” said Schneider. “I am utterly heartbroken.”

This is so fucking sad, I'm sure so many people hearing this tonight will feel a personal loss with Robin Williams death, all the more tragic by it's circumstances. I cant help but think of his performance in Dead Poets Society which dealt so beautifully with suicide. My own brother Michael died in 1993 by his own hand and the sadness never leaves one. I do believe one thing to be true, the more suicide and depression become less taboo subjects in conversation the less alone and stigmatised people will feel. Sorry for banging on.Can I borrow a line from Dead Poets which sum up my feelings tonight, ' Oh Captain my Captain'. R.I.P xxx
 
Robin Williams hated that he was remembered for 'Mork from Ork' and that he played Popeye in the movie...

...one is one of my favorite TV shows and the other a favorite movie...

Because I'm a dummy and didn't realize you had copied and pasted a news paper article...:doh: I have a soft spot for philly because you hold one of the two UCI level pro bike races in the US for women. That means if you want UCI points to increase your international ranking for road racing you have only two races to do it if you can't fly to South American or Europe. In cyclocross there are almost 30 events in the US where you can get UCI points just to show how ridiculous that is.
