Christmas for the Orthodox rite today? The Julian and Gregorian Calendars are slowly drifting apart.

"The motivation for the [Gregorian Calandar] reform was to bring the date for the celebration of Easter to the time of the year in which it was celebrated when it was introduced by the early Church. Because the celebration of Easter was tied to the spring equinox, the Roman Catholic Church considered the steady drift in the date of Easter caused by the year being slightly too long to be undesirable." (Wikipedia).

Catholic and Orthodox Easter will hence drift (further) apart too. Orthodox Church, besides following the Julian Calendar, uses a slightly different way of calculating its Easter date, but anyway, the difference will increase, and according to calculations, the last time Orthodox and Catholic Easter will coincide, will be 24 april 2698.

I went to Epiphany grade school and was an altar boy there... If they knew how I turned out they would have kicked me out of the parish!!!

a sad moment indeed- the passing of a legend. Gone is Ziggy Stardust, the Diamond Dog and 'all the young dudes' of years past mourn his loss...

It's really quite odd watching this. I haven't heard the rest of the album but it's clearly shaped and driven by his situation, and all the more eary that the public were not aware of it. "Oh I'll be free", indeed. He is now.
