RUNAWAY SLAVE CONDEMNED TO PUBLIC WHIPPING AND CRUCIFIXION

"In 217 a.D. the young slave Clodia tried to escape from her master's villa, in Capua, where she worked as a sex slave. She was found only two days later and condemned to die in the arena."

MASS EXECUTION OF WOMEN

Probably a reminder for many members, but anyway...
This is a still from "Ravished Armenia" (1919) from and with Aurore Mardiganian (1901 - 1994), a survivor of the Armenian Genocide (1915) , still a matter of controversy today.
Without doubt, this is one of the most famous crucifixion scenes in film history.

I refer to the Wikipedia page, which has a link to the preserved part of the film (most of it is lost) with the crucifixion scene. It is also on Youtube. Interesting document to watch.

has anyone ever found a 'good' version of the movie 'Ravished Armenia'? Apparently any versions that exist are poor quality with bits missing?Ravished Armenia 001.jpg

Sadly, that's about all there is. The film is pretty much lost. A 24 minute version was restored and released in 2009 by the Armenian Genocide Resource Center of Northern California. The original ran about 90 minutes.
