YOUNG SLAVE IGERNA PUBLICLY EXECUTED IN THE ARENA FOR CHEATING HER MASTER.

"Igerna was a young beautiful slave who was bought by Lucius Fabius Cilo, an old senator. Lucius fell in love with Igerna, so he made of her his lover. But Igerna secretly loved Antinius, a young servant or Greek origin. When some servants told Lucius about Igerna's love affair, he decided to condemn her to die in the arena. The poor womanwas tied to a cross, whipped and impaled until she died. This happened in Rome in 207 a.D."
