Some Sketches

Such is my perverted imagination, any place where I spend much time, I soon get to thinking, where would be the best place here for crucifixions? Ideally, some prominent, quite low hill overlooking the busy part of town, where the crosses can be well seen from a distance, and the public can easily come for a closer look and maybe even a feel ...

Depraved little thing!
But that is part of the reason it wears My brand!

Same here! Abandoned spots in a town. Not that neat. Former factory sites e.g.. But good accessible. There may some garbage present! Such further degrades the status of the crucified.

So, for the moment this is the best way to lift the cross and the victim up with no surprises, but the hole must be freshly dug and deep enough to give the proper support in case of an extremely windy day or a dynamic victim.

I would avoid to do crucifixions on windy days, and wait for better weather. We cannot risk that executioners could get hurt when they get suprised by a gust of wind during lifting the cross!

Cornelia's final journey

The last stroke of hammer and the work has been done. Now everything is up to the crucified woman, who has just begun her final journey. A very painful, exhausting and murderous journey, and a strange one because it will end exactly in the same place where it started: on her cross.

From her cross, Cornelia is engulfed with pain she has never known before. She becomes aware the crowd is thinning. They were only interested in seeing her crucified. No one gives a damn when she dies...

As an attachment to both my "Golgotha Hill" post (a man and a woman as the two thieves accompanying Jesus) as well as "Passion Play" theme (a contemporary public open-air reenactment of the Golgotha), please find the info regarding the man+woman crucified as the Thieves. She wasn't really nailed (like the Jesus reenactors taking part in Philippines passion plays were), but she was very skillfully characterized as nailed and bleeding, she was far more scantily clothed than any other woman involved in a Christian public event up to now, having her legs, arms and shoulders bare and a slit in the skirt or loincloth, revealing more of an upper leg above. And, moreover, she looks a good actress, able to express suffering and despair.

I found this image only yesterday, so I am happy that some people really felt the same way and followed the same idea, however it is less probable that in the near future such shows will became more widely adopted nor that the female thief will be crucified at least topless (although the big titulus plank covered her breasts enough to give a try without being offensive to the onlookers).

The picture was from a community passion play in Marlboro, Wiltshire UK back in 2017. It was rather controversial that they used a woman for one of the thieves. Although her feet are unsecured, it looks like the patibulum has holes to thread the ropes through to secure her to the cross. I guess they didn't want her to fall (LOL). Actually I think that's pretty hot.

The passion play #...

I am still impressed with the idea of crucifixion of the willing victim in the modern surrounding, which is still slightly new idea to me. But of course I will be happy seeing such a show even if they will sell tickets and taking of the photographies will be abolished.

And I am pretty sure that even a willing actress will became not so willing when she'll by finally stripped, crowned with thorns and presented to the crowd of people who will be crying: "Scourge her!" and: "Crucify her!", especially if she'll be able to get into the role, not mentioning her being ready nailed, hanged and suffering the fate of a condemned slave, even for only a quarter or so.

At least the last of my actresses, Rena, who agreed to be crucified a year ago, told me so. You can see her on the images below, if you don't believe. She nearly died during the play with excitement, shame, pain and exhaustion, and she stated that it was the most astonishing, difficult and amazing of all her roles but that she never regret her agreement to recreate the crucified Messiah.
