Hi,
It's a beautiful day for a Garden Party. Lady C. is busy taking souvenir photographs (For a small charge) and Eulalia is nailed to her cross. I see that Polly Perkins has just arrived!

Melissa

Thank to CruxDreams for the loan of Oxana. You can see more of her and the new odel Nadezda at viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1276
The party was in full swing, young slave girls were serving food and wine to the guests as they were being entertained by the guest of honor poor Eulalia who was nailed to the cross being excuted, she suffered the pain of crucifixon the nails hammered into her hands and feet ribbons of blood running down her arms.Mel and Connie were watching as Eulalia suffered."Such a pity, said Connie."she is so beautiful...I would love to have kept her as my personal sex slave."
"There are many slave girls here to choose from,as governor you can have who ever you want!"Mel replied.Connie caressed Mel beautiful bottom and smiled."And what if I choose to have you for the night oh noble Tribune?"
"I would be honored...then afterward I will help you choose a slave girl...but first we will watch poor Eulalia die."Connie watched as Eulalia suffered on the cross,a tear rolled down Connie's cheek, she was in love with the poor girl but as governor she could not show weakness but in her heart she would give anything if someone could save her.

I think Governess Connie really wants Eulalia to be saved so she can enjoy many years of pleasure using her as a sex slave. Also bear in mind that Polly Perkins is descended from Lady Godiva and has never left a damsel in distress to her fate. Polly is a legend and there are still many stories to be told of her deeds...this is just one from the archives...

In this pic Polly Perkins is on the horse, Lucy on the cross and Georgina is on the right.

Polly (ex Girl Guide) was still on her hols when she came across what was obviously a lovers tiff. She dismounted and took the hot iron from Georgina. “You could have somebody’s clitoris out with that! You naughty girl!..stand over there and be quiet!â€Â. Polly pulled the nails out with her teeth. She was born at a time when men were men ,and half the women were men. She took Lucy off the cross and tended her wounds.
“It was her fault miss, she started it!â€Â mumbled Georgina.
“I don’t care who started it. It isn’t at all ladylike to nail your friend to a cross! Do you know how much post-crucifixion cream costs these days?.....and I’m down to my last four plasters. I’ve a good mind to give you a spanking young lady, and where did you get those posts from?â€Â
Georgina, head bowed, hands behind her back shuffled her feet and quietly replied “I borrowed them from Arcimboldo`s back garden miss. He wasn’t using them at the time.â€Â
“Borrowing without permission is stealing young lady!....you will return them today, ¦and I`m not leaving until you two have kissed and made up.â€Â Lucy was recovering and was happy to be friends again.
Satisfied, Polly bid them farewell and rode off into the sunset;¦she actually wanted to travel South but a sunset exit was always impressive. She hummed the William Tell overture and cried out “Hi Ho Argentium away!â€.

I think Eulalia will be saved :)

[center:32mzq9sr]Breathless now -
throat scraped sore with screeching,
sweat sweltering -
fuck the flies!

Knew what was coming,
seen so many girls
crux climaxing...

Yet couldn't help -
when the stipes socket-slots
the shock's
such agony,

throws, flows
through all a slender skeleton,

swinging, squirming,
seconds, centuries,
stripped of my sanity
struggling,

till the severity
brought semblance
of sense,

so I settled
submissive -
there's no escape...

The exercise:
Up! Haul on hurt wrists,
shoulders shriek,
rack-pain seizes,

press down,
ankle agony,
straight, straining shins...

till aaah!
Can't bear,
no more -
drop,
dangle,
arm-strung,
head hung...

thighs splayed.
Men like that,
hoot.

Lift lashes,
weakly
wiggle my tits -
why not?

So many fine folk
join to enjoy me -
put on a show!

Leap, 'lalia!
Let loins,
lithe and limber,
yield their delight!

Her eyes
can't leave my lusciousness -
lust and regret
consuming Connie...

Mel tells her
there'll be plenty more
as young, as innocent,
delectable as me
for Connie's cravings,
Hansi's happiness...

Dance on, Eulalia,
though thirst torments me,
breath comes hard,
rib-rictus grips...

the stench of sweat, of shit,
of suppurating scourge-sores,
vomit in my drought-dry throat...

eyes glaze,
through clouds of crimson,
shadows startle me -

Who's she?
Through shimmering haze
a strong young woman
sky-clad,
stallion-striding...

scarce more than schoolgirl -
yet ancient, ageless...

Her eyes enwrap me -
not Connie's cruel craving,
nor Mel's magnificence,
a glance that arrow-shafts me
deep to my soul...

In that girl's eyes
my life and death are gathered,
grabbed like a goshawk's prey...

fading...

My fate
is hers
hers to choose...

hers...[/center:32mzq9sr]

Just been checking out Eulalia imagery, here are some more -
two of them showing her on a X-shaped Cross, which seems to be part of the Barcelona tradition of Eulalia's martyrdom.
I do like the middle one (by one Bernart or Bernardo Martorell), lovely treatment of her youthful face and body.
But Arcimboldo's pictured more of my martyrdom fantasies !

PS to Melissa

This one I posted at the weekend ended with Polly
(and Arcimboldo's 'Pillage', one of my favourites, was in my mind while I wrote it)
It's hardly a ballade (or even a ballad) -
but I'll wrestle with your challenge!

[center:2iryazle]Okay then, great Master Hansi and Mistress Tribune, here's a ballade
(which is a verse-form of 3 x 8-line stanzas, the final line of each being the same,
addressed to a person of high standing, so this one's for Connie)
Had a bit of help from Geoff Chaucer, hence the Middle English rhymes:

There is no comfort in my suffering
While I hang tortured by such heaviness
But to take pleasure in remembering
The savage beauty and the ruthlessness,
The cruelty and sensuous tenderness,
Of her whose slave I am. While I endure
The pain and pleasure of my crux-torture,
Eulalia must praise the Governess!

In her sadistic dark imagining,
Much crueller than weak words can express,
She revels in her victim's suffering,
Delights to enjoy a dying girl's distress.
She reigns supreme, merciless torturess,
To wield the whip so well is her nature.
I yield submissively in her honour -
Eulalia must praise the Governess!

Lust drives her to such tigerish ravening.
My trembling body yearns for her caress -
As her sex-slave I'll strive at pleasuring,
Serving her lust will be my business.
Though crucified, in utter wretchedness,
I thrill, delighting in my adventure,
As Polly rides up with her mystic cure,
Eulalia must praise the Governess!

Love the Arcimboldo pic of Eulalia i've not seen that one before so well done for posting it !! :ymhug: :ymapplause:

Absolutely love it!!!. :) :ymapplause: ...another one for the Eulalia file. You learn something new here every visit. So, the last line is the refrain and there is no envoi (Concluding four line stanza) because that would be addressed to a prince?

I thought I had all of Mr A's pics posted in the approriate thread and then Hans turns up with Eulalia!! I've counted 66 from 1995 to 2008, unless of course Hans knows better :)

Melissa

Thanks Mel!

There's a good deal of variation in ballades (Wikipedia says so, so it must be true!). I cribbed Chaucer's Compleynt of Venus, which is actually 3 ballades, plus an envoi that is yet another (= 10th) 8-line stanza. But (like Wikipedia says) writing 'em in English is bloody hard work, after the obligatory 3 stanzas I was knackered like I'd done a tough night at the Coffee Mill or rowed as a galley-slave from Putney to Mortlake.

A Crux-friend's sent me a link to a fascinating book from 1608 which is an illustrated kalendar of Christian martyrs supposed to have been crucified: http://www.archive.org/stream/trivmphusiesuchr00ricc#page/n3/mode/2up. The woodcut of Eulalia of Barcelona may not be Mr A, but there's loving attention to the details of her Torture.

The text says: At Barcelona in Spain, Diocletian being Emperor. Saint Eulalia, a virgin thirteen years of age, with strong and constant spirit refused to venerate false gods. Stretched on the Rack, she was beaten with knotty clubs; her breasts, spread with burning oil, were ripped with iron hooks, and she was buried alive under a heap of stones [or possibly quicklime]. Having endured all this and more, on the command of Decius the Governor, she was crucified.

I would never dare to say that madame de la Tribune :ymdevil: :D
found the movie with the poster?
owing to the pressure of work in this moment (taxes time) and looking football Netherlands - Hungary (2-2) 70 min :((
whhhoouuuwwhhh after 90 minutes 5-3 :)) =)) its here 10:48 now :ymdevil:

I must read up on this tomorrow!...just a thought..when Hans requested a "ballade" I'm sure he meant "ballad". I think ballade may well be in common usage among serious students of Literature but certainly not among common folks like me. I'm not surprised that with its complex structure you found it hard work!..Give me second order differential equations any time.

I'm sure you're right, but as Hansi said 'ballade' (and called me his troubadour!) I thought it would be fun to try - which it was, albeit strenuous
(then you could say that of a lot of things on CF!)

I love (Border) ballads much better than ballades, and I have toyed with that idea,
but I think composing a convincing ballad would actually be a good bit trickier -
so don't encourage him!

Bab Ballads must be Apostate's speciality, his G&S gem still has me in stitches

Second order differential equations :-o sound like the kind of Torture only a Tribune can inflict[/center:12c8f4iv]

to our Tribune and my beloved minstrel Saint Eulalia I use the next translations
Ballad sentimental song that tells a story, narrative poem adapted for singing

Ballade
A form of French versification, sometimes imitated in English, in which three or four rhymes recur through three stanzas of eight or ten lines each, the stanzas concluding with a refrain, and the whole poem with an envoy.

For the 19th century American form of music and performance known as minstrelsy, see minstrel show. For the chocolate sweets sold in the UK, see Minstrels (chocolate). For the Irish patriotic song, see The Minstrel Boy.
