I went back and had a look at some of the crucifixion scenes from The Serpent's Eye. In this scene, Sabina has fainted as the cornu entered her rectum, stretching her anus as she let it slide into her. Even though she panicked and tried to lift herself off of it when the agony became unbearable, she was too exhausted and her legs wouldn't cooperate. Now it's raining and she hangs unconscious. Here's the scene for context:

Some interesting victim's-eye or near victim's-eye views are when Sabina was whipped on her cross. It begins when Gundericus, grabs her right breast, admiring it, feeling its softness and weight. But Sabina is horrified by the whip in his right hand, realizing what he is about to do to her. Here's a picture showing the context of the scene:

She can only hang there helplessly while he takes his stance and draws the whip back for the first stroke:

Yeah, that cornu is one more damn thing to add to her misery, I expect. She probably hit that pretty hard when that whip came up between her legs and made her jerk back. Good thing she's got that tight round butt cheek to cushion the impact.

All things considered, crucifixion can be a pretty unpleasant and difficult way to spend your last hours and days on earth.

The first time Sabina raised herself on the cross, she arched her body outward, lifted herself up, then tried to ease her butt back against the cross, fearful of the point of the cornu. As she pushed her hips back, she leaned as far forward as she could, craning her neck to see between her legs and assure herself that the cornu was below her. Here's a picture for context, to show what she was doing:

She could not have seen the point of the cornu, but she would have been able to see its base and know about where it was.

Here's Balbus checking on Sabina at sunrise as she begins her second day on the cross. He grabs her by her hair, pulling her head back so he can get a good look at her, checking to see if she's getting enough water to keep her going. He thrusts his vitis between her legs, bringing the stick up between her lower lips to get her attention and see how aware she is.

Meanwhile, there is another victim on his cross next to Sabina, a murderer named Regulus. I don't generally do exclusively male crucifixions but I do like to have some in the background for contrast or to add to the feeling of realism. We know that the Romans crucified women, but it seems likely that there were a lot more men than women who died on crosses back then.

Anyway, there is a male victim next to Sabina and things are happening with him as well. While Balbus is checking on Sabina, Regulus is trying to rest on the sedile. It is early morning, time for a man to get an erection, or perhaps it's a result of the pressure of the sedile. Or maybe it's for no reason that we can fathom since a penis has a mind of its own and apparently didn't get the memo that for Regulus, erections are no longer relevant. And a problem for a man trying to rest on a sedile is that he needs to be careful to get his balls out of the way or end up mashing them between his body and the sedile, a serious concern. So as Regulus takes care to get the sedile behind his testicles, the tip of the wood pushes them forward as I've shown here. And this is what he sees from a victim's eye view:

Yes. We focus so often on the female victim. Slender, pretty, weaker than her tormentors. Perhaps she is a slave, perhaps naturally submissive. She may be used to oppression, to living in a world ruled by men. Her dignity, her feminine mystique will suffer as she is exposed on her cross.

A male victim is coming from a very different place. His natural power, his strong body and limbs are no longer of any use to him. They will simply prolong his ordeal. The delicate parts of his body, his balls, his cock, are exposed to abuse, to ridicule. He must protect them as best he can. His erection is no longer private, no longer a gift to a lover or a matter of personal pride. Now it is a focus for humiliation, another sign of his lack of power. Something for the crowd to enjoy or mock.

Each suffers in their own way
