Erotic helplessness : a study of the history of the Damsel in Distress theme in art

Aww, fellows, you are tempting me to resume my thread. I think I just might allow myself to be tempted... ;)
Indeed, John Everett Millais's Knight Errant is the quintessential damsel-in-distress painting. One can only let one's imagination mentally picture what was happening before the brigands fled the scene...
Another similar damsel(s) tied to tree(s) scene, from John Willie (1902-1962), with a knight coming to the rescue in the background :

As for for your post on the daughters of El Cid by Ignacio Pinazo i Camarlench (1889), @ducon007, I thought I could share this slightly different version. It seems too different to be the same work. Perhaps a study, or a later imitation ?

Also, @Loxuru, I was thinking of responding to your post on Jan Styka's lost painting with this 1900 poster for it's exposition at the Palais de Glace in Paris...
Indeed. Several parts of the panorama have been used separately.

I greatly acclaim your decision!

This knight is spoiled for choice! Or will he be gallant enough to take all four?

And as a reply to your knout post, @Loxuru, this 1899 drawing of a publicly whipped girl in Virginia. As the caption informs us that she is 18, it should be kosher ;)
@thehangingtree should take note. That’s what I call a crowd!

Pleased to see that you’ve decided to continue, coldtukey.

a knight coming to the rescue in the background :
Unfortunately :
a) the women are not tied up along the main road; The latter makes a sharp left turn before reaching the bushes. The knight is focused on that.
b) the knight's distant view is no longer what it should be.
c) the knight faces the sun, while the bushes are in shadow.
d) the road is dusty, easily irritating the knight's eyes, so he has lowered the visor of his helmet, further compromising his eyesight.
e) the knight is underway to an appointment, with his ophtamologist to be exactly, to solve a few of the above problems, but he is hurried since he fears not to get there in time.

The Ladies wil have to enjoy each other's exciting company for som more time.

Fortunino Matania, The Crucifixion of Ide, Britannia and Eve, March 1933

Yeah, I really love this one. Anyone who has been crucified with their arms over the top of the patibulum knows how excruciatingly painful it can be.
I wonder what's the story about the pic?

Meanwhile, a few more on the Sophronia theme. Old drawings (artists unknown).
Sophronia is condemned to death by King Aladine and prepared to be taken away for execution.
