The crows would slowly tear off pieces of meat as in a long and painful Lin-chi. Catherine would feel her slow and painful torture but in fact she would not "see" it, because the first thing the crows would do was tear out her eyes, the most appetizing morsel for their babies.

IN THE GIRLS' CELL

It was late in the evening when Justine entered the cell of Bice and Berta, the two sisters.
Bice was hanging from the vault of the dungeon, chained to the ceiling and the floor, unable to move or even put her feet on the ground. Chained to the wall, standing in an X position, was Berta. Both had been in that position for more than a day, because for the entire duration of Catherine’s torture and then execution they had been locked up there, without water or food, in those positions where there was no possibility of rest. Justine approached Bice and said “Catherine was really beautiful, you had made an excellent choice” then she showed her something she had with her “Look, she sends you a last greeting… this was her right hand, do you remember her caresses?” And while she spoke she showed her the amputated hand that she had torn from a dog’s mouth, just to show it to Bice and make her suffer.
“No… no… why? She was innocent… why?” “For the Countess she was a thief like you two, and she met the end she deserved: she was broken on the Wheel. I guarantee she cursed the day she met you, little whore!” And laughing she walked away saying “Anyway don’t worry, you’ll catch up with her soon… Goodnight little sisters, see you soon”

She was dragged, crawling on the ground, to the great Wheel and there the two men tied her, as required by the terrible rite of Torture, twisting and tearing her broken limbs on the spokes of the Wheel itself. Catherine's screams were very loud, without stopping, and her now formless body was finally tied, ready to be hoisted onto the high pole where she would be food for the crows. But Justine had not finished with her yet: while she was dragged towards the Wheel and while she was being tied, the cruel torturer Justine enjoyed whipping the condemned Catherine, with no less than 20 lashes of her bullwhip. Then looking into the eyes of the poor woman tied, now mad with pain, she said "Poor whore, you have known the abyss of pain and you will die eaten by the crows, up there. I hope you enjoyed it .... But let me give you one last gift” and so saying with a dagger he cut Catherine’s belly vertically, at the height of the navel. Without penetrating inside the belly but deep enough to reveal the innards. “There, now you are ready… you know, crows love to eat the guts of the condemned… and they will certainly like these! Goodbye little whore” and she signaled to Gaspard and Bruno who dismantled the wheel to go and reassemble it on the pole where in a couple of days Catherine would finally die…

I suppose Justine has more exquisite torture planned for variety during the execution of the two sisters.
