Also i think the dialogue is in Czech,rather than Russian.It is filmed in the Czech rebublic. i'll have another look one day as i think the original dialogue may be English,i'll have to lip-read to see.....

I posted over at the foundation about flies, ants, and other critters. We just finished up an infestation of the 13 year cicada. As adults these bugs are a bit more than an inch long, have lacy gold wings and reddish or green bodied with the ugliest beady red eyes. For thirteen years they live in the soilthen for about two weeks they come out of the ground for one reason only, to reproduce. Most sourses say they don't even eat!!! The males make a noise with their wings to attract the females that's a high pitched buzz. What makes them annoying are:

1) there are so many of them the noise can cause hearing loss

2) while they don't technically bite or sting in the two weeks the adult female lives she has to get knocked up and lay the eggs. This is done by slitting into bark and depositing the eggs. After 13 years they seem to know that softwood trees are the easiest to accomplish this feat. The problem is (again) there as so many of them there aren't enough soft wood trees around here for them all to fit. My bradford pear tree was so infested it looked like the bark was alive. Their next option is hardwood trees and the third option is, well, anything else, including people. When the female tries to lay the eggs on skin there is a light stinging sensation.

Now picture tying, oh, say Eulalia to a stake near this hoard of cicadas. The rising and falling pitch of noise does not stop. Soon the females decend on her naked body. Bound as she is she cannot fend them off. The noise hurts her ears and... (WAIT, I think this will make a good story. I have to finish off Bethany and I'll get back to this!)

Now picture if Eulalia is crucified and this hoard swarms her body covering her flesh and crawling into orifaces and wounds (This could be another story. The upside she'll die before she has to worry about hearing loss!!!)
