How I envy the witnesses in picture 1. This would have been a Victorian period reformatory thrashing which despite howls from the girl would have continued until she was 'well caned'

Two separate scenes of JCP in this costume drama set in ancient China. The first is a public humiliation by suspending a female culprit (along with a number of bound male comrades, although only one of them is shown suspended) from a gallows-like frame by a rope around her waist, then removing her trousers. This being a Chinese TV show there is no nudity, so we only get to see her naked legs from the knees down although the implication is that she is naked and exposed from the bottom down. In the second scene, the same (?) woman is flogged with a single strand whip while tied up and kneeling in a court room in front of a panel of officials/judges. Again, there is a male comrade being treated the same way. No idea of the plot beyond that, or the name of the TV show.
Part of becoming a guard at the prison is the intense training one must go through. The Guard delivering the lashes knows what the prisoner feels as she is whipped as she experienced such a whipping when she was in training. Each stroke of the whip delivers searing pain to the prisoner but that is only part of the punishment. The prisoner's naked body rubs against the hard wood frame she is bound to, rubbing against her bare breasts, belly, and exposed vagina. The prisoner can beg for mercy but none will be shown. She cries from her brutal torment but she has earned the kiss of the whip.
The guard is pleased with the prisoner's punishment...

The good old judicial corporal punishment of bastinado, or falaka. My favourite. The sweet kisses of the cane on my feet, landing as I lie restrained, helpless and vulnerable... They said they won't stop until I scream, but they didn't say they'd stop after I scream.
