My Favourite Music

Because it’s Australia Day, a great Australian song “Land Down Under” by Men At Work, but in a nice cover version by Slovenian (I think!) band Ansambel Aufbiks
I think they get the harmonies perfectly, and the accordion accompaniment is unusual!
it's beautiful...I just listened :)

A song that fascinates me

Holy king cause my skin to crawl
Away from every evil thing
In a cotton mouth
In a cotton mouth
Quick across the water bring

Your hands speak of a broken door handle
Of thoughts and deeds
A little bird sings
A little bird sings

Stars rise on the face of the water
Quiet comes on the wing of a lark
Call out in an old time holler
Call out if you're afraid of your dark

I will you no grief
Nor to see you fall
Once I had a mind to
I'm done with that
I mean you no harm at all

What stands between us
Runs right through my head
It's water still under the bridge

We come together in a horse head union
Hang my tobacco hands from a beam

Silver handled and chest of drawers
Out of the longhouse
I took what's yours
I took what's yours

I will you no grief
Nor to see you fall
Once had a mind to
I'm done with that
I mean you no harm at all

I will you no grief
Nor to see you fall
Once had a mind to
I'm done with that
I'm done with that
I mean you no harm at all

You all know that I love irish music

I think that fits

I know it was a different war, but the same shit.

I have just seen right now on German TV a documentary about the "Klitschko Brüder" = ("Klitchko-Brothers"), one of whom - Vitaly - is the Mayor of Kiew = Kyiv and his boxing-trainers were usually German trainers. So, that is why this documentary was started but it turned into a sad story about these brothers and "Their heaviest Fight" (= "Ihr schwerster Kampf"). You can find this documentary via the link after the following versions of one of my - now again - most favoured song.

The musical intro of this documentary was an instrumental version of a song which I did not hear in Germany for years or even decades and I really hoped, this song would stay a "historical document" of human "wrongdoing", but it did ... and it is still a wonderful sad song but with some hope in its different versions:

The German TV documentary:

And her's the translation for those who speak english

What are wars for?

Nobody wants to die
That's obvious
Then what are wars for?
Mister President
You are one of these gentlemen
You must know that
can you explain that to me?
No mother wants to lose her children
And no woman her man
So, why do soldiers have to march?
To murder people, get this straight to me
What are wars for?
Mister President
I am now ten years old
And I'm scared in this nuclear missile forest
tell me the truth
tell me now
What is my life being risked for?
And the lives of all the others, tell me why
They load the guns and kill each other
They face each other and could be friends
But before they meet, they shoot each other dead
I find that so crazy
Why does it have to be like this?
Do you all have billions of people all over the world
Asked
Do they want it that way?
Or is it also about money?
A lot of money for the few bosses
Build the tanks and rockets
And then buy gold and diamonds for the elegant women
Or is it also about a religious twist?
That you can't agree
Now which god is the true one?
Or what other reasons are there?
which I find just as stupid
Oh well
Maybe I can't understand it yet
Why wars are necessary
I'm probably still too small
I'm still a child

This song is now 31 years old and sadly still relevant

Songs that fit these crazy times. I simply refuse to classify my acquaintances and former colleagues into (enemies and non-enemies). What can they have built such crap for the other.

I am such a sucker for this kind of breathy female vocal harmony..
(If you watch on iPhone or tablet, the video is 3D immersive. You have to click the YouTube button first, watch through YouTube not through CF. Otherwise it looks pretty nice in 2D anyway. Trippy!)

Song is “Stevie” by Warpaint.

If you like breathy female vocals, you should check out Goldfrapp :)
